Living etiquette
The living etiquette
so living under one roof is fun for everyone
Living together in a shared apartment can work harmoniously with following a few tips and rules.
If you are newly moved in:
Moving into an existing home community means an adjustment for existing residents.
- Take this opportunity to introduce yourself to the other tenants. Invite your neighbors over for a drink or visit with them individually. This is how the others get to know you and first contacts are made.
- Offer your help. Every now and then there is a heavy part to transport or a helping hand is needed. Give and take means that you will also experience help when you need it.
- Share, borrow and swap. Do you have a special tool or do you need a larger ladder, for example? In the community everything is easier and mutual help is good for everyone.
In the house:
- Friendliness is fun. Greet your roommates when you meet and take the time to have a little conversation in the hallway. Their relationships solidify and trust is built.
- Be considerate. Stick to quiet times and don’t turn up your music and TV sets too loud. If everyone adheres to this, you too will benefit from the peace and quiet in your home.
- Live together without stress. Order also ensures well-being in the stairwell or in the common rooms. Washing or drying clothes, parking bicycles, etc. ensures peaceful coexistence while adhering to rules and agreements.
- If you are planning a party and it might get a little noisy, notify your roommates so they can adjust. In the best case scenario, invite your neighbors to join you. Celebrating together creates experiences.
- Pay attention to your neighbors. If there are elderly residents or residents in need of assistance, they will be very happy to have your support.
If there is trouble…
- Often it is only misunderstandings that lead to disputes. Be open and willing to talk when conflict is approaching. Ask others for advice and support in a dispute. Even a small compromise eliminates disputes.
